Please note that the CareAccord Direct Secure Messaging services will be unavailable during the period indicated, due to scheduled maintenance.
System Maintenance is scheduled for:
A Direct secure messaging system that allows providers to send protected health information over the internet safely, securely, and privately. CareAccord is administered by the Oregon Health Authority through the Office of Health Information Technology.
Orders, records, results, and any other documents can be easily and securely transmitted; there is no loss of quality during transmission; and delivery confirmation is included.
CareAccord is a member of DirectTrust and is an accredited HISP by the Electronic Healthcare Network Accreditation Commission (EHNAC). This membership and accreditation means that CareAccord meets strict standards for ensuring the security and safety of information sent via CareAccord's Direct secure messaging system.
Several advantages for health care providers and organizations:
A Direct web portal and a provider directory, complete with Direct addresses and a secure method of transporting protected health information for providers with no electronic health record (EHR) or with a need for more robust Direct secure messaging (no cost through 2017)
A Health Information Service Provider (HISP; a secure method of transporting protected health information) for providers with an EHR but no HISP or a desire to switch HISPs
A no-cost Flat File Directory to exchange Direct addresses with providers who wish to exchange protected health information with other participating providers
Coordination of care between Oregon providers, as well as providers in other states and organizations served by other accredited HISPs across the nation
